The 3 Daily Habits That Have Had the Biggest Impact on My Life
The 3 Daily Habits That Have Had the Biggest Impact on My Life
By Umair Yasin, Founder of House of Duaa & Duaa Kits
Entrepreneurship is often glamorized as freedom, vision, and big wins. But the truth is far less glamorous—and far more powerful. The greatest impact in my life hasn’t come from one breakthrough moment. It has come from daily habits. Quiet discipline. Showing up consistently.
As the founder of House of Duaa and Duaa Kits, I’ve learned that leadership is not about distance—it’s about presence. It’s not about titles—it’s about responsibility.
Here are the three daily habits that have shaped not just my businesses, but my character.
- I Show Up — Every Single Day
There is something powerful about physically showing up.
Every day, I come into the office. Not because I have to—but because leadership requires visibility. A founder who is present sets the tone for the entire organization.
Being in the office allows me to:
- Feel the energy of the team
- Identify challenges early
- Make quick, informed decisions
- Stay connected to the day-to-day operations
An absentee owner creates distance. And distance creates disconnect.
At House of Duaa, where we create heritage-inspired signature scents designed to transform spaces into immersive experiences, quality and consistency matter. From fragrance development to diffuser performance, every detail counts.
At Duaa Kits, where our focus is meaningful, faith-centered products that encourage remembrance and connection, intention matters even more.
Presence ensures that intention never gets diluted.
Showing up daily reinforces a culture of commitment. If I expect excellence from my team, I must model it first.
- I Work Alongside My Team
Titles don’t build companies. People do.
One of the most impactful habits in my life has been working closely with my team. I don’t operate from a distance. I sit in on meetings. I review campaigns. I analyze performance metrics. I ask questions. I listen.
Whether it’s:
- Overseeing fragrance campaigns for House of Duaa
- Ensuring product launches at Duaa Kits are executed properly
- Reviewing ad performance and creative strategy
- Fine-tuning messaging and brand direction
I believe a founder should understand every moving piece.
When campaigns are running, I make sure they are running smoothly. That means checking data, discussing creative adjustments, and aligning the vision with execution.
A business grows faster when leadership is hands-on—but not controlling. Collaborative—but decisive.
Working alongside the team builds trust. It shows that no role is beneath leadership. It also creates an environment where ideas flow freely.
Why Being a Present Founder Matters
In today’s world, it’s easy for founders to become distant—delegating everything and stepping away from the daily rhythm of the company.
But culture starts at the top.
When a founder is present:
- Standards remain high
- Communication improves
- Accountability strengthens
- Team morale increases
- Vision stays clear
- Vision stays clear
For me, leadership is stewardship. Both House of Duaa and Duaa Kits were built with intention, family values, and purpose at their core. That purpose cannot be outsourced.
Consistency builds credibility.
Presence builds culture.
Daily discipline builds legacy.
- I Study the Market Relentlessly
Innovation doesn’t happen in isolation — and neither does growth.
One of my daily habits is consistently sizing up competitors and analyzing the market. Not from a place of comparison, but from a place of awareness.
I ask:
- What are others doing well?
- Where are they falling short?
- How are they positioning themselves?
- What gaps are customers still experiencing?
In both House of Duaa and Duaa Kits, the markets are competitive and constantly evolving. Trends shift. Customer expectations change. Creative standards rise.
If you’re not paying attention, you fall behind.
I regularly review:
- Competitor campaigns
- Creative angles
- Product positioning
- Website experience
- Customer messaging
- Pricing strategies
This isn’t about copying. It’s about clarity.
When you understand the landscape, you make smarter decisions. You differentiate better. You lead instead of react.
Studying competitors sharpens your own standards. It forces you to innovate, refine, and elevate.
As a founder, you cannot afford to operate in a bubble.
The Bigger Lesson
The three habits that have had the biggest impact on my life are simple:
- Show up every day.
- Work alongside your team.
- Make time to think, create, and innovate.
There is no shortcut for involvement. No replacement for presence. No substitute for intention.
Businesses don’t grow because of titles.
They grow because of leadership that shows up.
And for me, that will always start with today.
